The soft start circuit in my half inch Porter Cable router quit and after opening it up to repair it, I saw how skimpily the soft start circuit in it is built and I didn't really want to repair it only for it to puke again later.
I checked around for another option and luckily I found the GS11 universal soft starter.
So I bypassed the built in soft start circuit in my router and ordered a GS11.
It worked great out of the box not only on the router but everything else in the shop that I could think to plug into it.
As an electrical engineer I could not help but to open it up and take a look at it's construction and I was happy to find it very well laid out on a high quality PC board with quality components. Also, I saw that many of the power handling components are very robust and many are even overrated for their function.
The thing may well outlive me.
I share my workshop breaker with a few other rooms and got tired of resetting and turning off other high current devices every time I started my table saw or air compressor. This soft starter did the trick.
I’m liking it so far. It does what it’s advertised to do. I haven’t had it long enough to really get to know it. I don’t like all the emails asking me to review it. They start as soon as you get the product.
5 stars. We live off the grid on a solar powered battery system and we wish we had known about this minor miracle years ago. No more household shut downs when the water pump kicks in. Highly recommend.
Eliminated my reset trips to the breaker box and provided an added plus of smooth starts for my miter saw.
